Alors j'en étais où... ah oui ! Donc le Rinjani, c'est validé.
Donc après l'effort...gros confort. On part de notre camp de base de Senaru pour rejoindre Senggigi, juste le temps de se reposer un jour ou deux (dans la belle piscine du bel hôtel). Je vous passe tous les clichés, genre noix de coco-paille dans la piscine, pinacolada-paille dans la piscine, et Bintang (jamais avec paille c'est péché) mais quand même piscine.
Ah oui, un beau coucher de soleil aussi. Depuis la plage cette fois.

Let's say we all wanted to spend one or two days doing nothing... I mean, not doing nothing 'cause actually we have done plenty of things in Senggigi, after our 3-days trek, like: drinking coconut water in the swimming pool, drinking pinacolada in the swimming pool, and never try to forget the Bintang in the swimming pool.

Après Senggigi, on repart vers Kuta, au Sud de l'ile. Un village bien différent de Kuta-Bali. A part un Novotel au fin fond de la plage (bien caché heureusement), ce sont plusieurs bungalows qui s'alignent dans la baie, c'est petit et esprit assez "roots" et "surfers". D'ailleurs on a hésité à sortir nos "boards" avec Tib, mais on avait plus de "wax", et c'était un "reef break" avec des "left". Nous on est plus "sand break" avec des belles "right".
Pour replonger dans le sérieux, j'ajoute que la plage est splendide, quant aux autres plages à l'Est et Ouest, elles le sont encore plus, sans rien sans personne. Cela ne va pas durer, un aéroport se construit et sera fini en 2012, de quoi voir plus de touristes, australiens, hôtels, clubs and Co. (Co. peut comprendre Mac Do, Star Bucks and Co encore.)
After Senggigi, we went to Kuta, South island. A really small city completely different from Kuta-Bali. Except the big Novotel at the end of the bay, only small bungalows, with few hotels, stand next to the beach, with a roots and surfers spirits. The beach of Kuta is nice, and beaches on East and West parts are even nicer with nothing and nobody. Bad news (or not): a new aerport will be finished on 2012, that means more tourists, hotels, clubs, etc., but I really hope Kuta-Lombok will never become the same than Kuta-Bali.

Toujours en suivant notre règle d'or: pas d'organisation, ne jamais planifier plus d'un jour à l'avance, on se dit... tiens, pourquoi pas aller sur la petite île de Nusa Lembongan, entre Bali et Lombok. On connaît quelqu'un la-bas, Mister Clément Fouqueré, qui d'après ce que je savais tenait un restaurant. Et zou, 3 heures plus tard on était dans un petit avion local pour faire Lombok-Bali, puis le lendemain Bali-Nusa Lembongan en petit bateau.
Arrivés à Lembongan, on se trouve un petit hôtel au bord de la mer (comme tous les hôtels du coin). On fêtera à coup de cocktails notre 31 (le 6 janvier), puis le lendemain 2 plongées au programme autour de l'ile (voir en images ci-dessous), et au final on finira par l'avoir notre repas de réveillon, chez Clément (qu'on a enfin retrouvé), qui je ne le savais pas, mais est un chef renommé ! Chef Fouqueré nous a régalé dans son hôtel bien classe, de l'entrée au dessert en passant par le Bordeaux et la Poire. Tiens j'en salive encore devant mon écran.
We always plan no more than one day in advance, and in Kuta we decided to go the day after in Nusa Lembongan, small island between Bali and Lombok (around 1 hour from Bali by small boat). We know someone there, Mr. Clement Fouquere, I just had the information he had a restaurant. 3 hours later we were all three on a local plane to do Lombok-Bali, and day after small boat to reach Nusa Lembongan. We found a small but nice hotel on the beach, and started to celebrate our New Year with some cocktails ! The day after, Tibo and me went diving on 2 spots, really nice (see pictures). And finally, we found where was "our" Clement ! And we decided to have our New Year dinner there, great cook, really excellent ! From starters to desserts, with red wine and pear liquor, everything was excellent !

Every goos thing has an end... we will spend few days in Bali, before all going home (actually Tib and me, Leanne is now trying to get a job there...good luck!) And for me another life starts...a van life.

Indonesia - Lombok - Happy New Year from the Rinjani volcano

Après Noël sur une petite île paradisiaque, on voulait innover pour le 31. C'était un peu notre seul objectif programmé de ces vacances indonésiennes, j'ai nommé le volcan Rinjani, 2ème plus haut sommet d'Indonésie avec ses 3726m, situé au Nord de l'île de Lombok. Pour se faire, direction Senaru pour trouver guide et porteurs (pratiquement obligatoire).
After Chirstmas on a small paradise island, we just wantez to innovate for our New Year spot. That was THE mission of our Indonesian holidays, the Rinjani volcano, 2nd highest summit in Indonesia with 3726m, located north of the Lombok island. To make it, direction Senaru to find guide ans porters (almost obligatory).

Senaru, on y restera donc la première nuit (dans un petit hôtel appartenant au frère d'un ami d'un ami...., enfin "combine" à l'indonésienne), où tout est prêt: un contrat avec guide, porteurs, transport, nourriture, tentes, hélicoptère, ah non ? ok pas grave. On profitera de Senaru pour se rafraîchir dans les chutes d'eau à 1h du village (oui Senaru c'est petit, situé en bas des pentes du volcan, altitude 800m). Eau très fraîche et la pression qui tombe est juste hallucinante.

We will spend the first night in Senaru (hotel whose manager is the brother of a friend of a friend...indonesian style), and everything is ready: agreement with guide, 2 porters, transportation, food, tents, helicopter, no ??? okay okay anyway. After the agreement signed (actually you just have to shake your hands), we go to the waterfalls, fresh water and impressive pression ! 1hour to go and 1hour to come back, a good training for the Rinjani (Senaru is a small village, 800m high, located in the volcano bottom slopes).

Commentaires: en forme, même si sur les 2 dernières heures, ça grimpe dré' dans la pente ! Pluie, puis superbe coucher de soleil au Camp de Base.

Commentaires: "ça y envoit du gros" ! Super fatigant, marche de 3heures dans un pente de sable volcanique, on s'enfonce, une nuit éclairé par une belle lune, et le sommet avec levé du soleil ! instant magique ! mais vraiment froid, moins de 5°c avec vent... merci pour la gnôle Tib. Vue sur l'autre volcan toujours actif (on aperçoit de la lave rouge dans la nuit, et des éruptions assez fréquentes), situé dans un énorme cratère avec lac.

Start from Base Camp 2.30am (2640) -> Rinjani summit 5.45am (3726m)

Comments: "awesome dude" ! Tiring, 3 hours of walking in a steep slope of volcanic sand, hard to progress, a night illuminated by a beautiful-nearly full moon, sunrise on the summit ! soooo great ! but f..k..g cold ! less than 5°C with a strong wind.... thanks for the liquor Tib. Sight to the other volcano still active (we see lava at night and eruptions quite often), located in the big crater with lake.

Commentaires: pancake banane comme petit déj au Camp de base, puis direction le lac pour le lunch. Descente pas très facile car un peu glissant, un peu crevé de l'effort de la matinée. Mais après le lunch et un repos dans les sources d'eau chaude, on reprend des forces.

Comments: banana pancake as breakfast in the BAse Camp, then direction the lake for the lunch. Downhill a little bit slippy, tiring from the summit walk. But after the lunch and the relaxing time in the hot springs, we feel better.

Commentaires: on verra plusieurs éruptions du volcan lors de cette ultime montée, quelques passages avec corde, mais superbe vue sur les 2 volcans. Les tentes seront installées très proche du vide, sur le bord du cratère. On est seul, coucher de soleil et levé de pleine lune avec volcan en éruption avec lave rouge. Du lourd.

Comments: we have seen many eruptions during this last climb, some parts with rope, but beautiful sightseeing on both volcanos. The tents will be installed on the crater rim. We are alone, sunset and fullmoon rise with a volcano still in eruptions with red lava. Massive.

Trop d'heures de marche ;-) environ 6h

Commentaires:Là on est vraiment "sec", courbatures, "la descente y a pas pire" comme on dit dans la Yaute. Lunch à Position II, en pensant qu'il nous reste pas beaucoup derrière... dommage. On appréciera la Bintang avec Tib en attendant Léanne qui est bien crevée. Puis on arrive à Senaru avec les derniers 200m en moto.

Start from Position IV 8-9am (2640) -> Senaru 3-4pm (800m)

Comments: everybody is exhausted, "nothing worse than walking down" as people says in the French Alps. Lunch at Position II, we were hoping to be close to the end.... anyway. We appreciated a Bintang with Tib, waiting for Léanne. Finally we did it ! Senaru, with the last 200m in motorbike.

Le mot de la fin ? Le plus beau trek jamais fait pour ma part. Et une nouvelle passion pour les volcans, qu'on va partager avec Tib (youtube.com -> Katia et Maurice Kraft)

Après ces 3 jours bien fatigants, avec nuits courtes et longues heures de marche (au total pas loin de 20heurs, 3500m de dénivelé positif, 3600m de dénivelé négatif), on décidera de repasser en mode vacances-tranquille à l'indonésienne.... tu connais pas ? ça donne ça:
